Overview
CalcTools ("we", "us", "our") operates calctools.pro. This page explains what information we collect when you use our site, how we use it, and what choices you have.
The short version: our calculators run entirely in your browser. We never see your grades, GPA inputs, or any calculation you perform. We do use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site so we can improve it.
What We Collect
Calculator inputs
Nothing. All calculations happen locally in your browser. Your grades, scores, credit hours, and any other values you enter into our calculators are never sent to our servers or to any third party.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data. This includes pages visited, time spent on pages, general geographic region (country/city level), device type, browser, and how you arrived at our site (e.g. from a search engine). This data is aggregated and anonymised — we cannot identify you personally from it.
Log data
Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically records standard server log data when you visit: your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages requested. This data is retained for a short period for security and debugging purposes only.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect and analyse information about how visitors use this site.
Data collected by Google Analytics is processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy). We have enabled IP anonymisation, which means Google truncates your IP address before storing it.
We do not use Google Analytics' advertising or remarketing features. We do not share Analytics data with third parties except as required by law.
Third-Party Services
Vercel
Our site is hosted on Vercel. Vercel processes standard request data as part of serving the site. See Vercel's privacy policy at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Data Retention
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted from Google's servers. Server log data held by Vercel is retained according to their standard retention policy.
We do not maintain any database of user information.
Your Rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have rights regarding your personal data under applicable law (including GDPR for EEA residents and CCPA for California residents). These rights may include:
— The right to know what data is collected about you — The right to request deletion of your data — The right to opt out of data collection
Because we do not collect personal data directly, most of these rights should be exercised with Google directly regarding Analytics data. For any requests or questions, contact us at the email below.
Children's Privacy
Our tools are designed for students of all ages, including minors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we do not collect any personal data through our calculators, and since Google Analytics is configured with IP anonymisation, we believe our data practices are appropriate for a general educational audience.
If you are a parent or guardian and have concerns, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of CalcTools after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
